The best ways is to leave the fish in its bag and get a paper cup any cup that won t harm the fish and poor small amounts of water every 5 10 mintutes so there body slowly get use to the water in your tank and just keep doing that for 30 minutes. Make sure there is plenty of air in the bag usally when people ship fish this way thay use breather bags or will the bad with pure o2 so it is a little different. Kick starting the nitrogen cycle can take a long time. All of the decomposed waste turns into ammonia which can be toxic to the fish.

The less you keep them in the bag the better as a former member of management from wally world that was part of my area as far as coming from a vender that has them for two days in a van no not under contract like that i have personally rejected many a load as the vender will put a stress relief chemical in the bags to sedate the fish my area was required to feed each day and remove.
