How Does The Moon Affect The Ocean

On the other side. Like the past post said it effects our tides but it also effects organisms living in the ocean. Even though the moon is so far away it is large enough that its force of gravity is strong enough to do that. These tidal forces cause ocean water to flow into two tidal bulges on opposite sides of earth.
Well it all comes down to the basics of gravity. The tides are the result of the moon exerting its gravitational force on the ocean and bulging it both toward and away from the moon. Both the sun and the moon exert a gravitational pull on the earth s water. As the earth rotates the position relative to the moon changes so the bulge moves.
Each day earth rotates through these bulges. The ocean s tides rise and fall in time with the moon s phases and several marine species including. The possibility that humans could be affected by the moon s cycles isn t entirely groundless. The resulting force of the moon s gravity creates two tidal bulges on opposite sides of the earth.

The twice daily ocean tides are primarily the result of the moon s differential force on the material of earth s crust and ocean. The short answer is that the moon s gravity pulls the oceans and us towards it. The combination of earth s gravity and the gravitational pull of the moon creates a phenomenon called tidal force which is what causes our ocean tides to change.
