The object is to acquire all the cards which you can do in different ways. If you both play a card of the same rank let s say you both play a jack you have to have a war. The player with the higher cards takes both piles six cards. So if there is a tie between eights then the players would place eight cards face down and then the ninth would decide the winner of the war.
Instead of playing just three cards face down during a war you may play a number of cards equal to the value of the cards that caused the war. Each player turns up one card face down and one card face up. Make sure to keep the cards face down. Another version involves changing the rules of war.
If you win a war you can also choose to capture one of the face down cards. To play the card game war shuffle and deal the entire deck of cards to the 2 players.
